World Yacht Events Hosts New York City Yacht Charters for the NYC Waterfalls Display PDF E-mail
Written by Bryan Davis

New York WaterfallsNew York is one of the World's most popular charter destinations. Not only is it home to the “City that Never Sleeps,” New York also plays host to Niagara Falls, one of North America's natural wonders. While the City has a little bit of everything for everyone, many visitors come with hopes of seeing the falls. Unfortunately, even the briefest of stops requires a full day commitment, as Niagara Falls are located approximately 400 miles (nearly 700 km) from New York City.

Those looking to visit the falls must drive seven to eight hours to the New York/ Canada border. This journey prohibits most visitors from enjoying Niagara, but a recent art installation by Olafur Eliasson will now allow visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of upstate New York while never leaving the “concrete jungle.”

“The New York City Waterfalls,'' is a temporary public art installation of four mechanical fountains depicting waterfalls similar to Niagara. The four fountains cascade from heights of 90 to 120 feet and can be seen from various locations along the East River. While the installation is visible from Manhattan's South Street Seaport and Staten Island, the best viewing location is on the East River itself. Steven Tanzman of Yacht Events understands the necessity to view the Waterfalls from the river, and that is why he is now offering special Waterfalls charters. Yacht Events, already known in the area as New York's Premier Dining Cruise, will escort its guests along the river to enjoy the beauty of the New York skyline and the wonder that is “The New York City Waterfalls.”

Charters will be available by day and night and will run from now until mid-October when the project is set to be disassembled. Guests are encouraged to try both a day and night cruise as the experiences are completely different. A day visit to the falls allows guests to see everything by natural light, whereas a nighttime visit provides cruisers with the backdrop of the city's twinkling lights.

Tanzman is encouraging all interested patrons to book early, as the waterfalls are expected attract millions of visitors. Mayor Michael Bloomberg has said of the installation, “The waterfalls project will bring a sense of awe back to the harbor and encourage all of us to see a familiar part of our city in a completely new way.” New York Waterfalls Yacht CharterThis is precisely what the artist hopes to do with this project. Eliasson, 40, is infamous for his nature-inspired works, the most famous of which was his 2003 “The Weather Project,” his “giant sun” installation at the London Tate Modern made of 200 yellow lamps, mirrors and mist. It was a national phenomenon that drew more than 2 million people to the Tate. Eliasson is expecting an even higher attendance to “The New York City Waterfalls,'' as the scale of this project is significantly bigger. Additionally, these natural waterfalls come at a time when New York is increasing its focus on conservation efforts.

Yacht Events hopes that this project will provide an adequate substitution to the eight hour car trip to Niagara Falls. As Eliasson points out “They are as real as any waterfalls; it is real water falling.” Although the falls might see out of place to some, the y exhibit exactly the kind of splendor that the rest of the city holds. Eliasson even went out of his way to make sure that the falls were visually similar to their surroundings. All four of the falls are constructed on scaffolding intended to mimic the look of buildings under construction.

The falls provide an ideal background for a cruise along the river. Tanzman is ready to charter out his four East River boats to all interested in enjoying this short, visual spectacle. All of the boats are capable of accommodating any function necessary. Yacht Events are capable of handling weddings, corporate events, and even private parties. However, plan your yacht event early as dates are booking up fast! This is a spectacular way to entertain your clients and a great way to see New York City.

For more information or to book a New York City Yacht Charter on a corporate event yacht visit one of Yacht Event’s luxury corporate vessels such as the Princess or phone Steven Tanzman directly at  212-630-8158 to book.
