Fiji Yacht CharterFiji is composed of a 322 island archipelago and 522 islets. The two major islands are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. The islands consist primarily of mountains (up to 4,250 feet) and tropical rainforests.

Fiji is unique in its success of escaping modern day detriments to the environment such as industrial progress, pollution, and disease. It is also home to very few dangerous species like poisonous snakes, crocodiles, leeches, and insects and it’s rainforests are very unique in that they are completely safe.

The mainland is mostly mountainous terrain and there are numerous streams, waterfalls, and pools such as the sacred “Bouma Falls” see in the film “Return to the Blue Lagoon.” There is also a large natural waterslide at the falls and all of Fiji’s streams are crystal clear and unpolluted.

Fiji offers some of the world’s most diverse diving. Most people know that Fiji is the soft coral capital of the world, but is it so much more. There are over 1000 different marine species of fish, sharks, rays, soft corals, sea stars, shrimp, and many other animals living in Fiji’s various marine environments.

Fiji is truly a wonderland of different islands. The Kadavu Group, Fiji's fourth-largest island, lies just south of Viti Levu. Divers are particularly attracted to the Astrolabe Reef which encloses a lagoon containing a number of islands. Denarau Island is located a convenient 20 minutes from Nadi Airport and 10 minutes from Nadi Town. It offers a variety of accommodation and activities, amongst which is a championship golf course.  Lomaiviti is small group of islands approximately an hour ferry ride off the coast of Viti Levu containing various types of resorts. The Mamanuca Islands and the islands of Nadi Bay offer tourists some of Fiji's most outstanding island beauty, they are fringed by gorgeous clear water and many fingerlike reefs.

There are also a plethora of activities on the mainland. You can take a tour of the Coral Coast which will take you exploring to different villiages, sugar cane fields, coral lagoons, and small beaches or you can explore the caves deep in Sigatoka Valley or anything in between. Large cities you may want to visit include; Suva, the capital city; Nadi, where you will most likely fly in; Lautoka, the location of a major sea port; and many many more.

English is now the official language of Fiji, but the Fijian language is still widely spoken in many different dialects.

Not only is it important to know a ting or two about etiquette, but it is also very considerate and these attempts do not go unnoticed by the natives. They are known to be some of the friendliest people in the world and value those that show respect for their culture. When visiting a Fiji villiage, it is customary to bring a gift of Kava or “yaqona” and present it to the head of the villiage or “Turaga ni Koro” who will pound the Kava into a powder, mix it with water, and serve it. It is important to dressFiji Yacht Charter modestly. Shorts must not be worn and women must not wear clothing that exposes the shoulders. It is considered disrespectful to wear hats or touch anyone’s head. Always remove your shoes before entering any house or other building. Stay with your guide, it is considered rude to leave your host and accept another invitation. Inform those who extend invitations that you are with a host and you would be happy to take them up on the offer later. Speak softly. Raised voices are interpreted as expressing anger.

Restaurants in Fiji offer nearly any type of cuisine you may be craving from Indian to Japanese to Italian and the environment ranges from 5 stars to small 24 hour cafés. However, if you’re looking for something more traditional to Fiji, try a lovo. A lovo is an underground oven of heated rocks cooking a variety of foods wrapped in banana leaves and covered with earth. Lovos are often followed by a meke, or traditional song and dance.
