Nice Yacht CharterThe French Riviera is one of the most heavily frequented yacht charter destinations in the world. The charter season runs from April to October, usually a season of low seas and calm winds. One of the famous cities located along this coast is Nice.

Nice is a popular yachting destination in southern France, located on the French Riviera or “Côte d'Azur” between Marseille and Genoa. It is a major entry point for the French Rivera because it has the convenient Côte d'Azur airport. People have been attracted to the beauty of Nice for over 400,000 years, that’s how long the earliest settlement dates back.

Nice is a bustling metropolis, but it also retains its old world charm in the beautiful Old Port and the Old Town with its excellent markets and you still get a feeling for its early 1900's splendor with the beautiful architecture. The main port is the port of Nice, also known as Lympia port or “The Old Port.”The only other port is very small, located in the Carras district. It is very common for travelers to walk through the port and marvel at its bustling activity.

You can find all kinds of restaurants and activities, as befits a town of its size. You can walk the old port of Nice, explore the small and quaint seaside towns nearby, visit the staggering cliffs, or journey to one of the many neighboring countries like Spain or Italy,. You can even take special pleasure in sailing to one of the nearby islands.

Near Nice, there are several islands as well as other famous stops on the Riviera like St. Tropez, Monaco, and Cannes. The closest island is Corsica and there are several ferry connections available. Also close by is Sardinia, as well at the Balearic Islands of the coast of Spain.

The Promenade des Anglais or “Walk of the English” is a very famous walkway along the Mediterranean. The English have historically wintered in Nice, and they inspired its construction. The Promenade was obviously a success, thousands of visitors use it each year to stroll along the Mediterranean coastline, taking in the sights of a bustling rusting town and the splendors of the ocean.  If you choose to visit the beach, be careful to note that it is pebbled, not sandy. Also along the Promenade is the famous Hotel Negresco, constructed in 1912. This hotel is nothing short of palatial. It is a sprawling luxurious building, complete with aNice Yacht Charter pink dome designed by Gustave Eiffel and a 16,309 crystal chandelier made by the Baccarat company.

Nice is sheltered by the Alps, is usually experiences moderate weather and very calm winds. Sometimes Nice can get heavy winds from the east or northwest and can carry red dust from Africa in the summer. There is usually very little rainfall but it can sometimes become torrential later in the charter season. Some of the world’s most famous painters like Picasso and Cezanne lived here for inspiration, and for good reason, the landscape is stunning!
